In light of the ongoing events with the COVID-19/Corona Virus quarantine and the Governor’s “Stay Home” Executive Order, the playscapes in The Village will remain closed until further notice.

Monday HOA Board Meet Agenda

The agenda for Monday’s Oct. 15, 2018 HOA meeting is now available.  We will be discussing/adopting the 2019 budget, which has no increases in HOA monthly dues.

That being said, we went out for bids on the lawn mowing/winter snow contract and the lowest bid was an increase of almost 20 percent from the past three years. If we approve the budget as is, it will reflect the reduction in spending on other items or less savings for future road repairs to accommodate the contract increase without raising dues. If you want to know more, come to our meeting on Monday at the Canton Social Services building on Ridge Road, 2nd floor board room at 6 p.m.

If you can’t make Monday’s meeting, please come to the annual meeting on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. ARDC: No more gray exterior color

ADRC Update for Exterior Painting

Greetings Neighbors!

With several years now behind us since homes have been built in this unique neighborhood, our homes are starting to need repairs and new coats of paint.

The Architectural Design and Review Committee has definitely seen an increase in the last couple years for modification requests for trim replacement and paint. That being said, there has also been a noticeable increase in color requests for the latest trend of various shades of gray; from charcoal right through the mid tones and the lightest shades.  It is the new neutral. Unfortunately, that is starting to dilute the color pallet around the neighborhood and we aren’t seeing the variation and broader color shades that were here when we all moved in.

To that end, effective immediately, the ADRC will no longer approve gray paint of any shade for the exterior of your home. When we moved here we all bought into the concept of keeping The Village unique in its architecture and style. Color is part of that concept. Those that painted gray these last couple years are at the limit of where it should continue. Sorry, but we can’t all have gray houses, even though it is a great color. It’s just at its limit for Cherry Hill Village.

If you wish to change the color of your home, we will ask that you consider your best 2-3 options and submit those for approval. Your color options should take into account surrounding homes and your color choice should not be repeated within a couple homes on either side if at all possible. There are great, bright colors out there! Take a look around the neighborhood and you’ll get lots of ideas. If you paint your original or current color, you do not need approval.

By following these guidelines, we will continue to maintain the uniqueness that is Cherry Hill Village. Thank you for your support to be the best neighborhood around!

Eggs, eggs, kids who egg houses

Did you buy eggs at the grocery store and now suddenly they are missing or half of the eggs are gone?

If that is you, then you should know those eggs are probably the ones splattered on three sections of my Roosevelt Street house on Friday night before 10 p.m. or on a section of my neighbor’s Grant Street house. Or on a house on far East Grant Street or a house on Harrison Street.

Over the past three weeks, several homes in the back section of the neighborhood have been egged. I am going to report the vandalism to the police tomorrow (we only noticed the egging on our house when our neighbor pointed it out today). My husband did find a broken egg on our driveway on Friday (4/27/18) when he went outside between 930 pm and 10 pm to move a car. He had been out earlier in the evening and there was no broken egg.

So, if your middle schooler or high schooler was absent around Friday evening, perhaps you could check to see if you are missing eggs or ask them where they were?

I will ask the police to provide more patrols in the evenings to catch the vandals. While this may not seem serious to a lot of people, my husband is currently standing on a ladder to clean the splatter off on the first roof section. There is egg on a second roof that we don’t have a ladder tall enough to reach.

So think about what it means if my husband or another neighbor falls off that ladder and breaks an arm or some other vital part of their body all to clean egg off their house?
